The SOP has the highest fertility rates in the MENA region: 4.11 births per woman, and had a Human Development Index of 0.684 in 2015, compared to an average of 0.704 in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. In 2011, 25.8 per cent of the Palestinian population was reported to live under the national poverty line, an income of ILS2,293 (USD637) per month for an average household.
